Don't be afraid to look stupid on stage

If you don't, who will?

Not at all theatre related but my favourite poem by the MSU student Jake Hoppert

Shadow
I’ll set you free,
Free from the chains that bind you to this earth,
And I’ll teach you to fly,
But I’ll follow your shadow over the valleys and fjords,
And the snowcapped mountains;
And I’ll catch you when your wings become heavy and you fall back to the ground.

And when you do fall,
I’ll toss you back up.

For who among us does not dream to dance with the stars?
To waltz on the rings of Saturn?
If only for a moment.

And after that moment is gone,
And you find yourself on the earth once more,
And your feet are frail and cracked,
I’ll find you again, and I’ll carry you,
For I will have flown higher than I have ever dreamed.
I will have walked farther than I have ever meant to,
And my feet will have grown firm and calloused.

And you will ask me how I found you.
But you will already know,

I followed your shadow.
