The group mentality

As with any other theatre programme of similar size, the theatre department at Oakland University is quite conscientious of the pack and insensitive to outsiders. I'm a personal fan in the ironic sense that it actually affected me. Upon entrance to my audition for the student directed one acts, quite loudly I heard, (insert student name) isn't showing up, he texted me saying that he has already pre cast the show. Understanding at that moment that no matter how splendid my audition would be, I wouldn't get into the show, I still gave a wonderful audition that had the spectating directors splitting at the sides. And as suspected, the show was precast with the exception of a few roles. A dear friend that has a connection with one of the student directors openly admitted that the auditions were great but the shows are primarily precast.

This is a cruel yet realistic example of the dirty play involved in theatre on all levels. Sometimes it's not what you know or how well you know it, it's who you know and how much do they like you.
